SYMPTOMS

When using a Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) OLE component with a Visual Studio generated .NET interop interface DLL or a Transaction Server Explorer, the following warning/error appears:
Some of the objects properties were missing or damaged. This can occur if the registry entries associated with the item are changed by some other program. Damaged items must be deleted and re-created.

CAUSE

MFC inproc servers do not register their interfaces in the interface section of the registry.
When they are used to run in a .NET environment, the interfaces must be registered so that COM can marshal the interfaces or use OLEAUT32. Because the information is not in the registry, you receive an error message after using the .NET interface class.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem for an existing server or if you don't have the source code for implemention the registration code inside the COM component, register the interfaces with this tool.
The SPLINES RegOLETypelib Application registers the interface of an automation object. The interface is registered as long as the interface is described by the type library, saved in a TBL file or included in the executeable server file.
